This is an altered book i made. (Front)
the concept was based off of the book tuesdays with morrie. (excellent book by the way)
I choose to make my sculpture out of a book because, a book, like the course of a life, it has a beginning, a middle and an end. My piece represents that of a life that is spent abysmally, one spent dwelling on things like money and not for the precious moments in life. In the book that this piece draws its influence from, one of the main characters is living this life. He lives poorly, until he reconnects with an old school teacher and he sees life for what it truly is. When this happens he starts to change his lifestyle for the better. My piece represents a life like his, before before the good in life is seen. It represents a life spent poorly, one that has no meaning and becomes a literal countdown towards death. It is one not measured by special moments or memories but one measured by the ticking of a clock.
